"Dragon Age Origins" or "Elder Scrolls Oblivion"?

i am looking for FUN gameplay complex characters (customizing and the like) and good graphics. really good graphics, like high-hz, 1080p type graphics. game length is not a defining requirement, but a good plotline is important. Which one should i go for?"Dragon Age Origins" or "Elder Scrolls Oblivion"?
Graphics: Dragon Age Origins wins hands down, if only for the fact that it is a newer release. Oblivion can look as good as recent games, but you need to use mods.

Customization: Dragon Age Origins has a wide variety of armor sets, items, weapons, spells and skills, classes, etc. Oblivion is more open-ended: no predefined classes and skill sets, and it also has good variety of items, weapons, armor, etc. Both also feature a very active modding community, so it's fairly easy to further expand customization options for both.

Plotline: Dragon Age Origins is a story driven RPG with a deep story, and various sub-plots involving party members (including romance options), your characters origin (hence the title of the game; where your race and class determines which origin, or beginning story, you use, and has a significant impact on both the main and side-quests), etc. Meanwhile Oblivion uses a sandbox approach that has a lot of logical fallacies (your realm is being invaded right now by the forces of hell, but there is no real urgency) and not much in the way of deep and engaging plots and sub-plots: there are no recruitable NPCs, side quests have no impact on the main story, etc.

Other considerations:

Gameplay (Combat): Oblivion is basically a hack-and-slash FPS. You either use melee or ranged attacks (bow and arrow or magic) and that's about it. Dragon Age Origins provides more tactical options, such as the composition of your party, AI tactics and target prioritization, placement of areo-of-effect spells, combat skills (no, even pure fighters don't simply hack and slash), traps, and more.

Gameplay (Adventure): Oblivion is pretty straight-forward. There's a main quest, various side quests, and various factions you can join, regardless of your class (at least Morrowind had requirements for joining factions or guilds so a pure fighter won't be head of the Mage's Guild for instance). Dragon Age Origins has a story-driven main quest, which is highly influenced by side-quests, your morality, and features multiple endings. Side-quests have a real effect on your character. And the various recruitable NPCs will feature their own associated quests, and can even influence how the main-storyline goes.

Gameplay (Scaling): In an un-modded Oblivion game, enemies scale to your level. You'll become more powerful, but so will the enemies. There's never a sense of you becoming truly powerful even in later levels; and the challenge level of any area stays the same. In Dragon Age Origins, the scaling system is better implemented, with specific level ranges for NPCs in specific areas. This way, some areas are will always be challenging to beginners, while others will be a cakewalk for high-level parties.

So, bottom line: IMO, both are great games; but if your main requirement is a solid plotline, go for Dragon Age Origins.
Well this should be simple, dragon age has tedious gameplay that requires lots of thought in some cases, you just stand there slashing away doing a spell now and then. The story is mediocre at best...the graphics are OK but graphics shouldn't be so important to you, they mean nothing really, as long as it runs well there is no issue. I would say Oblivion, although deciding between the two isn't fair, they are VERY different."Dragon Age Origins" or "Elder Scrolls Oblivion"?
Dragon age has better graphics, characters, and overall plot. Oblivion has an enormous variety of user created content you can download to customize the game. It's also more sandbox style so you can continue playing after the main plot is completed, this isn't the case with DA:O.

I would get them both. Oblivion has been out for a while so it's not going to be expensive. But, of the two I preferred Dragon Age.
Oblivion. I mean, sure you create a better looking character in Dragon Age, and the graphics are margtinally better, but the storyline gets tedious after a while and the cut scenes are boring and there are way too many.

Oblivion is a lot more fun. Better storyline, better side quests. You can own homes, horses, explore and re-explore ruins and caves for loot. Plus there is all of the downloadable content like Shivering Isles.

I got bored with Dragon Age after about two weeks, but I've been playing Elder Scrolls for almost a year and it's still one of my favorites."Dragon Age Origins" or "Elder Scrolls Oblivion"?
It all depends on how much you want to pay. Dragon Age O is like 50 used and Oblivion is about 15 used.

While I played of Oblivion I didn't like but can't really play it in my 360 as it has a crack in the cd and possibly caused rrod a few times.
