Need opinions on skyrim please?

Alright so I have plans to go to gamestop and reserve my copy of Skyrim... However I just dont know what it is? I love a gopod story and i know damn well Bethesda will provide that in Skyrim with over 150 hrs of gameplay with the dungeons random dragon attacks an etc... with that said I do like some good combat in a game. But sadly I just cant get the feel of it from watching these videos... Now in a RPG its usually more about that story and etc and not so much the combat and can usually just overlook the combat completely... Check this particular video out and I'll explain

Actually I just cant find the words an just cant explain why this combat just makes me second guess the game... I've been recently playing some Bioware games Mass effect one and 2 and I just LOVE the storys and the choices you make in conversations an etc and also really love the combat system but with that said I know this isnt the style that skyrim is (as in not medievalish) But I also recently re beated both dragon age origins and dragon age 2 yea dragon age origins wasnt the best combat system but i absolutely loved DA 2's. I just cant seem to find the words on what it is about this combat system that is making me have second thoughts on the game and just wait til i read some reviews. I mean theres lord of the rings war in the north on nov 1st and the love that combat right there lol an it looks like a good game so I was thinking of that instead... or good old guild wars 2 im a long time fan of guild wars been playing since release along with WoW an etc so.. might go with that. I dont know, What is your guys / gals opinions on Skyrim? Why or why aren't you getting it?Need opinions on skyrim please?
Maybe you should try out Oblivion first since it looks like it has the same gameplay style as skyrim. That way you get a good idea if you will like skyrim or not.
No way! Skyrim is more than just the combat, i mean, its like a life experience all for yourself. If your not into sword play, get into magic. Its going to be a wonderful time, and i don't think there is any harm in pre-ordering it.Need opinions on skyrim please?
It's an Action RPG. It's pretty much like Oblivion.. I don't know how else to explain it. It plays the way it looks: An RPG in a first-person real-time environment.

I am getting it because:
1.) I played Oblivion.
2.) I loved it.
3.) Skyrim promises to fix everything I didn't like about Oblivion.
4.) ???
5.) My wallet is crying.
6.) Oh crap the repo man is here

edit: By the way, I am getting both Skyrim and Guild Wars 2. I totally forgot about Lord of the Rings. Maybe I can sell my wallet...
First thing to know going into a Bethesda game such as Elder Scrolls, or Fallout series. This is a completely open world game. Not just to where you're free to roam wherever you want. You also do whatever you want....literally! You're given a general direction to go in, if you decide to. But other than that....it's up to you. I remember a moment in Oblivion where i was wandering around in a small village. A guy came up to me asking if I wanted to make some quick money. To meet him behind a building at midnight. He wanted me to follow some lady. He was paranoid and crazy, and thought she was out to get him. I could chosen to follow her for him. I could chose to kill the guy right there. But instead i told him id follow her, and had no intention of it. The next night, i lie to him saying she WAS following him. In turn he went to her house and killed her. I found out through word of mouth that it happened. I decided to avenge the lady because it was my fault she died. So i killed him in retaliation. But i was seen by town guards. They threw me in prison. That night, i slept..and was approached in my sleep by a member of a secret group of assassins, wanting me to join. Because they saw my killing ability. Basically...what im saying is... This game has a giant ripple affect of your decisions unlike any other. Had i not met that guy behind the building, none of that would have happened. Its the closest thing to a true immersive world as gaming has ever come. This is a MUST BUY game.Need opinions on skyrim please?
I am getting Skyrim because I have eagerly anticipated it since the release of the previous Elder Scrolls game, Oblivion, and from what I have seen it looks awesome. I can tell what the game will actually feel like because it seems to play pretty similar to Oblivion and I can tell you it will be amazing. Reasons being: Skyrim is made on a completely new engine, so it is optimized to meet the game's needs, so visually it will be beautiful allowing for incredible detail close and far away, also having dynamic snowfall that accumulates on objects correctly. The graphics in elder scrolls games, at least for me, have been almost the sole reason for me sinking so many hundreds of hours into them. While the combat is a large part of Skyrim, you will find yourself exploring the wilderness, on mountains, through new towns, and so much more that you will forget any doubt about it. The video was more to show a little bit of everything that is to come and especially 1:25 to the end was my favorite part. Trust me, you will want to get into this game.
I have completed both Morrowind and Oblivion and the combat got way better in Oblivion, but it still wasn't great either. The combat will prob be better than Oblivion but i don't think it will be a huge leap forward. It looks a little corny, the attacks with melee weapons look like they don't sync with the reaction of the enemy...that is disapointing. The spell animations look pretty cool though. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the elder scrolls games and am definately getting skyrim asap, and think it will be the best so far, but if someone is wanting a great combat game i would look for another title. Oblivion was pretty combat heavy and it was hard to only use spells to fight, I had to use heals and buffs to support melee to get any satisfaction out of magic...against Cameron it became a battle of who could heal faster and not get hacked to pieces....I have a feeling the combat will be a little like tunnel vision when in 1st person and thats why ppl want a better 3rd person combat system...anyway for ppl who like fantasy, Morrowind was revolutionary...Oblivion was good and we hope that Skyrim is as good as the hype.PS its about the atmosphere and the entire game experience, ppl always try to pick apart TES games, there is no such thing as a perfect game for everyone
i have skyrim pre ordered and it should be another great game in the series.i love the whole series of the elder scrolls games.i haven't gotten to play the first game which is arena but daggerfall and morrowind are just great games.i do like oblivion but not as much as the others.i think if you enjoyed dragon age origins then i think you will enjoy skyrim.these games just have so much to do and see,its unbelievable, plus i enjoy being able to play for hundreds of hours with the same character for one play through.hope this helps.
