What are some games like Dragon Age?

I tried Skyrim, didn't like it (mostly it was too impersonal and the characters weren't memorable, it felt lonely). I was thinking about getting a game from the Fable series, but I heard there are some major flaws in the gameplay, like it is not challenging enough and the combat is too simple. What are some other well-rounded games similar in theme to these?What are some games like Dragon Age?
Yes the gameplay in the Fable games is too easy but personally I don't really play these games for the challenge, but mainly for the story, characters and world-design.



Although the Mass Effect games are not in the fantasy genre the characters you create and those you interact with create a highly personal gaming experience.



Many people like the Japanese RPGs, they are pretty good at creating memorable characters: Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant, Star Ocean, etc.

However the only JRPG I liked was Nier.

Both games are made by Bioware and are similar in the way of interaction with NPCs. SWTOR is probably the best game Bioware as put out too.

Well, you could try BioWare's Mass Effect games if you already haven't. If you're a PC gamer there's Mount and Blade. You could also try Two Worlds II.
