Is Dragon Age Origins Repetitive?

I've never really played RPGs, but I've always been curious. I have played Assassins Creed 2, but I got bored of it after the first several hours. It seemed too repetitive for me. I was wondering if dragon age is like this too. I played the demo for dragon age II, and I thought it was very fun, but if it's long and all the gameplay is only just like that, then I could see myself getting bored rather quickly. Actually, if you like listening and thinking about storylines, than the game is not repetitive at all. The only thing that might get repetitive is the part where you go to the dwarf city Orzammar. That is the longest overarching quest that you must complete in order to advance in the game. The battles start to feel repetitive even if they aren't, because they last longer and are much more creepy. That part plays games with your head.



But overall, you should definitely try the game. It's not repetitive at all.
It can feel somewhat repetitive, but then again, most games can. It depends on what you like.



I personally would HIGHLY recommend it, I've put a bunch of hours into it.

The combat feels less intense in Origins.. but that doesn't mean it feels worse. I actually almost prefer Origin's feel than that of DA2.



So yeah - the gameplay is like that, but you make tons of numerous decisions (big and small) throughout the whole game. I found myself spending about 40 hours on one playthrough, I don't know what you consider to be short or long.



But - I'd still recommend it, I had a lot of fun with it, and then in DA2 you can import your save file from Origins, which will influence how some things work out in DA2.



I don't know if you're interested, but three RPGs I strongly recommend are The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Mass Effect 1 %26amp; 2, and Fallout 3.

If you enjoy managing a party around some tactical battles, then it can be pretty fun, especially playing around with all the spells mages get. I think if you are only in it for the combat though, then you might be disappointed, that was probably the weakest part of the game.

The real good thing about Dragon Age is the story and characters. The story is very interesting, more than enough to keep you going even when the dungeons get a little slow in parts. If you care about story in your games at all, you should at least give it a try, its one of the best RPGs in the last few years by far.

I completly agree with Dsty. If you like storyline in a game this is thew game for you. Betrayal, Romance, Tragedy all in one well done game. The only part I dislike is the fact In Orzammar you get so tired of fighting in the deep roads.
I found it to be very repetitive. The combat strategies are essentially the same except on a few very specific boss fights. I also found it to be very slow because of the constant pausing/playing/pausing "action".
