Dragon age origins.. gameplay questions?

v just started playing this game and on meeting the quartermaster at the first camp (before the initiation) I sold off some armour and weapons to buy better armour. On entering the Wilds and equipped with my new party I noticed some of them had inferior armour/weapons and no helmets.. Should I have kept the stuff I had to kit out my party or wouldnt this make a difference?? Also anyone have any good tips that they would have done if they started the game again ?? I dont like to read walkthroughs or use cheats as I think it spoils the game play.. Also Im playing human warrior, can i still perform magic?? Ideas for best skills to acquire??

Thanks .. Great game play by the way !!Dragon age origins.. gameplay questions?
starting it doesnt make much diffrence, it encumbers and slows them down, the higher quality stuff is worth keeping though, and equiping to yourself and your party members, the cheapo stuff is better left or sold as your party members have pretty good armour and weapons to start with.

if you want to make more money, try to stick with the smaller items that you pick up, and leave the huge suits of armour (keep the good ones to sell on) as they take up a lot of space and are not really worth that much.

i dont think the human worrior can do magic, but you will be able to control other people in your party that can do magic, you might be able to do a few diffrent spells (not sure though) but your main thing is fighting and using your weapons, i would concentrate on upping your dexterity, strength and getting attributes to do with your weapons that you like to use, and upping the single/double weapon attributes.

make sure that the weapons and things that you put on, dont slow the player down too much (as some of them have negative effects).

Edit_

your party members do 'stick around' and depending on what you say to them or do in there presence, they will either like you or hate you, and your limmited to 3. one thing that i was worried about when it first happend, if one or more of your members die in a battle, dont worry, as long as there is 1 person still alive, once the battle is over they will all be back to normal. and make sure you have a theif in your party, as they can open chests and get you some good loot!Dragon age origins.. gameplay questions?
Keeping that stuff would have made a small difference in the short term. But you will find better equipment for your entire party very soon.

As a warrior, you can not do magic. You have the warrior calss abilities instead.Dragon age origins.. gameplay questions?
Dragon Age Origins is an awesome game, don't worry about your party members, they won't be around with you much longer...just get through the forest, do all the quests, I really didn't upgrade too much until I reached lothering. You will not be able to preform magic as a warrior, but later in the game try to specialize as a "Reaver", that specialization has some pretty cool abilities (kinda like magic, but not really) As for skills, don't waste your time with archery or dual wield, focus on shield stuff and also try to max out your coercion skill as it come in handy a lot of the time
